That's a really good point... But y'know what? My absolutely .0001% headcanon for the show would be Dawn going to Kalos instead of Iris, just because her rating were much higher.

I think that their opinion really doesn't matter  they can just 'pretend' that Ash and May are together. Those guy's really are blind because they can't see that Drew and May are far better off together :3 |

Harley is a good point actually. The Advanceshippers not seeing Contestshipping further validates our claim of them having poor judgement. If May comes back, what are the chances of the writers pairing the two in front of Bonnie, Clemont and Serena?

This may seem a bit far-fetched but I sort-of have a theory about why Serena is the 'main' female companion in XY.
At the end of DP, the popularity of Dawn and Piplup was undeniable, and no doubt many fans - especially the japanese ones - wanted to see Dawn appear over and over again in the anime (some because of pearlshipping, others because of her personality, etc). However the Pokémon producers may not have found a returning Dawn very appealing so introduced Serena as a way of distracting fans from Dawn.
I feel like the crush Serena has on Ash is intended to draw away pearlshippers and bits of Bonnie, Clemont and Serena's personalities match Dawns which could be a way of replacing Dawn's personality. Also has anyone noticed that Dawn and Serena actually look very alike?
Again, this is just my take, and from past experiences they can be rather... well unorthodox.
