I need to do this to put my mind to rest. I like serena with ash, but not both ways.
Anyways, I wrote this all out on a page in my notebook during math. I am not disproving amour, but this will allow me to clear my conscience.
Edits to probably come throughout the day cuz im typing in school on my 3G iPod touch.
Yes argument:
The easier of the two arguments. Much of this argument is based on a lot of implications. Clemont and Bonnie both react as if Serena did kiss Ash. Serena has the emotion portraying satisfaction and embarrassment, and Ash's face can be taken as a face of shock. All of these reactions point to a possibility that it did occur. Another large part of the argument is the fact that it happened off screen, that it needed to be censored for the kids. The music beforehand implies that there was a kiss about to occur, that a climatic emotional moment happened. And finally, after a bit of thought and testing, Serena being on her toes matches up to Ash's lips as she moves down the escalator. Or at least to about his height.
No Argument:
After browsing about some of the pearl vs amour threads, I realized a lot of signs actually point towards the argument that a kiss did not occur. If she really wanted to kiss Ash, why didn't she step off the escalator? If she built up the confidence to do it, she should of walked off to prevent any factors from preventing it. At least, that is what I would do. In addition, Ash did not react accordingly if he was kissed. As shown in previous generations, his reaction is quite bashful when the topic or action is brought to light. Also, Pikachu, Clemont, and Bonnie only saw the back of them, showing that they did not see the faces. And finally, Ash did not react as if he was kissed, i mean if he was kissed, I assume he would act much more surprised.
And after I got home from writing this, I actually went to my room and attempted to re-enact the kiss in my room (without anyone). The top part of the escalator is more than any I know of: 4 steps away. Normally, it is about 2 steps, but this is mostly irrelevant. When they are facing each other right before the music, I have inferred that they are 1 foot away. During the music, Serena seems to be leaning forward, but not standing on her toes. Right when they cut to the feet, Ash and Serena are directly facing each other (with their lips about the same level). IF she leaned forward, then it is very likely they kissed. However, Serena decides to go on her toes when she is less than a foot away. Why does she do this? She must have seen that they are at the same height. I have made the conclusion that while she leaned in during the scene change, she closed her eyes. Most kisses I know (usually first ones) are usually when both eyes are closed, leaning in to one another. This is probably what Serena did, as doing so would have been her first kiss, and the first kiss with her crush should follow those rules. Now this is speculation, but there is no doubt that Serena was far above Ash's lips while on her toes. Therefore, it is simply impossible that Serena kissed Ash on the lips. However, it still could be possible that she kissed him on the forehead,
On top of that, Ash's reaction does not indicate that he was kissed, perhaps even at all. No sudden jolt or surprise, or any sort of movement that indicates excitement, surprise, or shock. Although this could be irrelevant, it still would have been an important first for Ash, and he probably would have taken it much different.
So from my personal physical analysis of it, I can conclude that Serena did not kiss Ash at all, or perhaps on the cheek, but that analysis should be for later.
Although a new-found yet small Amour part of me wanted them to kiss. TIme to spend for fanart XD cuz I cannot focus on anything else.
