Honestly im not sure to what think anymore. Its very likely that she kissed him but if i were an amourshipper, it would bother me that the writers would block the camera out like that. I appreciate it (sort of) but its odd to think that all amourshippers wanted a scene like this only to not ACTUALLY see it. Yes its a kids show but theres kinds shows out there that would show this scene.
Unless something gets said in the future, we'll never know what really happened and i hope it stays that way as it keeps, mostly everyone happy.

But it is equally possible that Serena didn't kiss Ash with her mouth but rather moved her face to touch Ash's mouth like as if she would make Ash kiss her on the cheek. It's also possible that Serena could have just hugged Ash if she just leaned in as a nod to their first meeting. Why else did Ash had to adjust his feet? The first point is actually an interesting point; it would certainly explain how Serena acted all embarrassed (as she got a "kiss" from her crush) and why Ash was so confused. IMO, one side of me says there was no kiss, another says a kiss on the forehead, and the other is saying a kiss on the lips. This is one of the most controversial moments in anime that I have had to discuss for a while! Now if they had to make Dawn return to the series, how would they promote Dawn and Pearl in Alola with the kiss scene? I mean that scene gave Amour so much clout so how would they counterbalance it? I mean they showed Ash's Pikachu and two of the female cosplay Pikachus for the XYZ 47 quiz, which happened to be blue and red to match Dawn's and Serena's colors respectively. Also I doubt that while Serena would receive too much character development this quickly, considering that didn't give a love confession to Ash at all. I don't think that she actually went though a conscious effort and actually kissed Ash the way Amourshippers think. She is still unsure as to how Ash feels about her since she's well aware that she wants to establish a bond with Ash but feels as though Ash is pushing himself away from her. It's possible that because of the reactions, Serena moved her face a bit so that Ash can 'kiss' her on the cheek. That's why she felt embarrassed yet satisfied while Ash didn't have a bashful reaction at all. Clemont and Bonnie were sufficiently away from Ash so they couldn't see everything. Considering that Ash has felt somewhat disturbed by his dance with Aria. Ash would have reacted more if Serena actually kissed Ash, but it's very likely that Serena made Ash 'kiss' her on the cheek. So that's why Ash acted clueless in the end because he's shown that he isn't that completely dense, sort of like Dawn. They censored the scene not because of Serena kissing Ash, but rather it would be implied as if Ash kissed Serena involuntarily as well showing a kiss between two characters is a big deal. I mean how Amourshippers want Serena to act vs how Serena actually acts are two different things. So Amourshippers assume Serena kissed Ash in the mouth. But since many tend not to be the brightest toolboxes in the shed, and can get carried away with how they view Ash and Serena, it's very likely that something else happened.

Aye they probably imagined the rest. Its great its been left up to imagination. Probably one of the fewer things i actually liked about the whole series. While Ash does show favoritism to Dawn and Serena out of all the main girls, the way he treats Dawn is a lot better than how he treats Serena. After all, the only girls he said they look good in certain outfits are Dawn and Serena. Ash just doesn't empathize with Serena at all, he doesn't even look up to her and assumes that she'll be fine when she isn't. On the other hand, Ash empathizes and cares more for Dawn and they can read each other like the backs of their hands. Serena wasn't that much of an influence on Ash compared to Dawn. Serena tried to fill in the void left by Dawn but she did a poor job at it. That's why despite whether she kissed Ash or not, Serena isn't an important person in Ash's life like Dawn was. That's why Ash was happy when Serena left while he felt visibly upset as Dawn left. He definitely missed Dawn.

i did find it odd that she would get on her tiptoes to kiss someone who's around the same height as her.
but yeah, i think she went for the kiss but didn't actually connect, due to the escalator.

i did find it odd that she would get on her tiptoes to kiss someone who's around the same height as her. but yeah, i think she went for the kiss but didn't actually connect, due to the escalator. It's also very possible that she hesitated at the end. I don't think she's that dexterous and athletic, if anything, she's worse at it than Dawn or Iris. I mean she could have leaned forward but she decided to tiptoe and lean forward which is odd. If she did lean forward, she would have fell on Ash like she did when the first time they met in Kanto even though the leaning angle is bigger because of greater distance. But even at 30 cm distance we would have noticed her leaning by her feet alone but she tiptoed straight. By the time she was almost about to make contact, the escalator started moving again. She felt embarrassed and satisfied that she almost got to kiss Ash. Or had moved her face so Ash can 'kiss' her on the cheek. If she did actually make lip contact with Ash, we would have seen very different reactions from Ash and Serena. So judging by the plot, development and emotional reactions, I can say that Serena leaned in for the kiss but failed to make contact. Maybe a millimeter of distance between the two faces before the escalator started to move down.
