You know, I have ALWAYS thought of Dawn choosing to journey in Hoenn was a bad thing.
But with the remakes nearby, Dawn being in Hoenn isn't so bad after all!
I agree with all of the points made. Dawn definitely has a very high chance of making another appearance in the show.

When Dawn visited Ash in Unova, she never showed him any ribbons, like May did in Sinnoh did she? Perhaps she needs Ash too...

I don't think she wanted to talk much about contests when she went to see Ash in Unova. I think she just wanted to spend time with him and the others and help him prepare for the Unova league. Then when she left, he finished 8th again. I think they need each other to succeed!

The main purpose of the anime is not to advertise the games, it's to add a new and more exciting branch to Pokémon itself. This is where I think you're wrong. The main purpose of the anime is to help sell the games and Pokémon merchandise. If there were no Pokémon games, the anime wouldn't exist either (how obvious is that). The point of any business is to yield profit and Pokémon isn’t any different. Whether Hikari returns or not is a matter of cost-effectiveness. They will bring Dawn back only if they feel it will net them more yen. Money is the key factor. If I may add a point, experienced watchers of the Pokémon anime will spot out the rating of a particular season at first sight. Do I need to describe Ash's performance in Kalos? I do believe that even you, my friend, can clearly see his development as trainer there. The writers have shown that they are often inconsistent. It's not unthinkable to imagine Satoshi becoming all of a sudden a powerful trainer again. If Ash somehow wins the Kalos league, will you be saying that this is because of Serena being there? Dawn is the reason why Ash is many things he is today and let's not even think about disagreeing with the fact that she has alot to do with his success Dawn's influence on Ash's progress as a trainer is undeniable but it doesn't make her any more likely to return. This is not what the writers take into account when considering re-introducing any character. By your logic, Dawn would never have left the anime. I'm not saying for sure that Dawn won't be brought back. I want her to return as much as you do. We can't rule out any outcome.

If Dawn is somehow there physically for Ash during the Kalos League, then I think there would be a good chance of Ash winning. Every new region has new characters and such, but I'm hoping Dawn can get a cameo at the end of each badge journey like in Unova. That way, any future victories will because of Dawn.
Before Dawn, Ash only got Top 8 at best, but with Dawn he was able to achieve higher to Top 4. Anything he achieves in the future will be because of after his time with Dawn.
If the staff truly care about satohika, then one of two things will happen in the Kalos League.
1. No Dawn appearance but Ash gets Top 8 or below 2. Dawn is physically there with Ash or she talks with him through videophone onscreen. Ash gets Top 4 or above.
The anime, however, is based off the games. I wonder what special thing they will do for the Hoenn remakes? Or maybe they knew to put Dawn in Hoenn all along?

Whether Hikari returns or not is a matter of cost-effectiveness. They will bring Dawn back only if they feel it will net them more yen. Money is the key factor. Yes, yes, money really is the key factor, but unfortunately we aren't sure of the amount game-freak earns. Tell me, by bringing Dawn, would people watch the X and Y series more? I mean, there are almost 15,000 pearlshippers that use Face-book and many more that don't. There are also many multi-shippers and countless others who love Dawn Berlitz. Other than that, people would love to see Piplup and Dawns other Pokémon. You see, Money will be made if Dawn returns. The writers could make more! Dawn, is a gold mine! The writers have shown that they are often inconsistent. It's not unthinkable to imagine Satoshi becoming all of a sudden a powerful trainer again. If Ash somehow wins the Kalos league, will you be saying that this is because of Serena being there? A boy who traveled through 5 different regions and has experience with every-type of Pokémon should be power-full. If Ash was power-full and started to win badges, the credit would go to his previous companions, not the current ones. For a second, I was confuzzled with your question. No, that wouldn't credit Serena at all, because she isn't doing much. It's Clemont who actually goes through the trouble of making those wacky machines and it was Alexa who offered to train Ash's Pokémon with her Noiviern. Serena only interrupted Ash to ask him if he knew her =p I'm asking for development, not winning a league. The comparison was made between Dawn and Serena, you should know that how they contribute and how much they contribute is an entirely different story. I would not credit Serena when Ash winning a league. Due to all the Kalos characters being the same age (excluding Bonnie), Serena isn't a one person show. Brock helped Ash, no doubt, but Brock's teachings were not used in the Leagues. Dawn's spin technique, her cheering and her enthusiasm helped Ash more than ever character would've have ever done. Dawn's influence on Ash's progress as a trainer is undeniable but it doesn't make her any more likely to return. This is not what the writers take into account when considering re-introducing any character. By your logic, Dawn would never have left the anime. I'm not saying for sure that Dawn won't be brought back. I want her to return as much as you do. We can't rule out any outcome. Dawn's influence on Ash doesn't make her more likely to return, my friend? That is just absurd! Her influence is made him what he is today! (I repeated this thing on this site for the hundredth time T_T). An important character like that deserves respect! She deserves acknowledgement and she certainly shouldn't be understated. Dawn (and another character whom I won't mention here =3) is the only person that deserves a return. Iris can do nothing in Kalos. Cilan (the character I wanted to mention XD) has a chance, that is for sure, but I won't discuss him here. She never left the anime, she actually cares about her Pokémon and realizes that she's just ten and has her whole life ahead of her so we ahead to Hoenn to fulfill her dream for that is what a kid her age SHOULD be doing. Hints and romantic scenes would be adorable, no doubt, but with 10-year-olds? I think not. Let Ash and Dawn mature. e can't rule any out-come, but we can raise a persons hope with evidence. With the amount of evidence the pearl-shippers have put in this thread, I doubt anybody is still worrying if Dawn will return. Think positive If I remember correctly, you previously said: "To cut long story short: there is a real likelihood that we will not see Hikari in the Pokémon anime ever again." That was something I had to argue about. And don't mind my argument, as you clearly said: "How convincing does this argument sound? I will let everyone judge for themselves."This is clearly my judgement...

It makes a lot of sense for Hikari to reappear in the anime. There is no disagreement between us on that.
But the writers could decide otherwise, for reasons only known to them. Past events have little bearing on their decisions.
I used to think very much like you. I believed Dawn would carry on to the BW anime. I believed Dawn's BW appearance would be much longer than nine or so episodes. Both, according to your reasoning, made plenty of sense. Both didn't happen.
I believe Dawn will eventually return. But I'm far from taking it for granted.
