Many people have been debating about whether Dawn will or will not return in the X and Y series. Most of these people are clueless and some are sure even thanking that she may not return; However, I have done some steadfast and dedicated research for days and have some to a fixed conclusion, proving all these Dawn bashers wrong. Dawn WILL indeed, return in the X and Y series.
Now here comes the part to which you'll ask why she'll come. The reasons to which are:
Many of us know that Dawn wishes to be an aspiring Pokémon coordinator and follow her mothers foot-steps, right? Well if we give a second look upon this fact and that the inspiration that a coordinator can get from visiting another region(especially if the region is like Kalos) than we may find our selves in an already solved situation. Kalos is the perfect region in which Dawn can progress as a coordinator and help improve her role as a trainer, helping in further development of her character. It is not necessary that she may meet up with Ash in the beginning of her journey in Kalos, but it would help her to grow and learn even more than before.
2) Her Pokémon:
All of us know about Dawn's extraordinarily talented and cute Pokémon. Kalos, being the region which focuses on the Pokémon's beauty and looks more than it's power(true fact) can give Dawn's Pokémon room to grow. The Kalos Pokémon are the perfect thing Dawn needs to train and add on to her party(because of her role as coordinator).
The fan Base also has an up rising and insists that the cute and much adored Piplup should return back in the anime to show his skill and cuteness. Kalos also introduced the air battle feature which is a great improvement. What other Pokémon has more grace and power than togekiss? Who knows, maybe she'll learn new moves and teach fletchling a thing or two. Pachirisu also has the opportunity to interact with Bonnie and dedenne and mamoswine to help out with anything else. Lets not forget the adorable Quilava who can assist Serena's fenniken.
Buneary's evolution, lopunny, is often referred to as being the eye candy amongst all the other Pokémon has a major shipping with the much famous Pokémon 'Lucario' (who has a mega evolution as well). In literal terms, Dawn is often represented by 'Lopunny' for her being cute, graceful yet strong at the same time and Ash is represented by 'Lucario' for his his aura manipulation abilities. Both the Pokémon being bipedal also adds up to this.
3) Her Talent:
The reason for why I often want Dawn to return with a Furfrou is that earlier in the DP series, she and buneary wanted to join the poke-stylist business. Furfrou is the perfect Pokémon to experiment on in terms of styling because of his thick fur. Dawn is actually the most suited poke-girl to come to Kalos. Kalos encourages styling and contests so it is not probably the best place for a trainer like Serena.
4) Her relations with the legendary Pokémon
All of us know about Dawn's relation's with Mesprit and her title as the being of emotions. Kalos has introduced two legendary Pokémon that have a deep grudge against each other mostly because one(Yvetal) is more of a hate and disgust kind of Pokémon where as Xerneas is more of a calm and loving type. Dawn acts as a medium in order to create peace between both of them(so I think her place is with either Xerneas - for being a fairy type and Pokémon of life- or Zygrade - for being the peace maker between Xerneas and Yvetal- or just maybe with Yvetal because it nice to see the demon act more differenty towards an angel like Dawn :3)
5) The Fan Base's uprising for her return
I don't think I need to go into much detail with this. All of us also support this idea and people from other sites also want Dawn to make her appearance on the anime, if not with Ash, then at least allow her to come, travel and then leave(leaving a ton of hints in the process if course). Of course us pearl-shippers have a different view, we want her to come and stay with Ash forever, start dating, marry, have three kids, die old in the hospital bed holding each others hands while saying each others last words after a kiss
To conclude my argument, I'd like to say that there is a solid 86.006% chance that Dawn will surely return :3
