Contests are great recreations to create combination attacks. Due to the existence of BW, we no longer see these anymore. It's just the basic body attacks and straight basic range attacks.
I'm very disappointed in the absence of Contests.

Contest were awesome in the anime but i think the reason they got rid of it was pacing. OS was 82 episodes OI was like 36 episodes and Johto was 154. Johto was mostly filler then you get AG and Dp with contest and that makes the pacing slower especially DP AG+BF was 193 episodes with 2 regions and DP was 191 just in Sinnoh from 7th badge to 8th was a year in that of itself.
I think contest went bye bye because of pacing i mean Ash got 8 badges in Unova in 86 episodes. It had to have something to do with it.

Contests were really fantastic. I think it's really boring to watch the series only see Ash fighting in Gyms. With Contests there was just a lot of variety in the series. It made the series more enjoyable to watch. It's a real shame that it is absent as of now, a mistake. They should consider bringing it back, because I enjoyed the series a lot more with it. It was just strategy combined with tactics, amazing.

I agree they should bring it back but I doubt they will. That will be the black mark on the games and anime for the remainder of the shows and games existence.

It's me again.
I was the one who told you guys about how about a year and a half ago, her voice actress (obviously for the Japanese series) was having an interview (on a TV-Tokyo affiliated radio network). She stated that she might return to the series, basically. What she said was that she wanted to come back to the series as a main character (even when she stated that she might). My predictions were misplaced when I said that she would return as a main character in XY. But my prediction still stands that she would eventually return as a guest character. The main reason I suppose was due to the lack of contests as well as promoting XY. I have no idea what will happen next, however. Piplup is still consistently popular from what I hear, but on the other hand, we'll just have to wait and see.
I'm generally unphased by Amour mainly because it's a trap to lure in bandwagon shippers, especially people who want romance in the show. The reason why partly XY rivals BW and DP in popularity is because of that hype. If their ratings go down, the most logical path for them is to hype up Amourshipping.

It seems that they're still quite convinced of her return. Well I don't know what to think of that. What Ash said didn't feel like some kind of hint to me. Why it would be remotely related to Pearlshipping is beyond my reasoning, but I think they have their reasons.

I can't read Japanese, but I know the date was right before XY started. This could mean they had Dawn in mind after all; Serena may not turn out as well with Ash as many expected.
