Ash and Misty falling asleep next to each other means nothing. It teases the audience, but it doesn't make Ash and Misty any closer. Those two falling asleep next to each other are involuntary actions, which means they had no control. In other words, if they could control it, they would choose not sleeping like they did.
Pokeshipping was valid until Pearlshipping came. So Jessie and James teasing Ash and Misty before Pearl existed doesn't harm us. Now Pearl may not have Jessie and James like Poke and Advance does, but remember Pearl has teasers of its own.

I hate to go against a ship of mine, but I will help. Sometimes I do take sides, but mostly I'm neutral. For now, I'm on Pearl's side!
1) Ash & Misty fight way too excessively. How does that mean they love each other? That logic would make me in love with my worst enemies, one who I can't stand to think of.
2) Who knows, Misty might love someone else! Look at Brock here. Other than the ear-pulling, there are lots of hints that make it seem like she wishes Brock would notice she loves him.
3) Just because Misty was the first girl Ash traveled with, doesn't mean she'll end up with him. There are other girls who have just as much a chance with Ash as Misty does. Even Iris has a chance! But we don't know what the writers think, since we don't write for the show.
4) Too many fake hints. 4Kids was only being biased by adding those false hints. Imagine how painful that was for us who prefer other Ash or Misty ships. (They hardly give Gymshipping a chance in the dub!)
5) Tower of Terror? Please. You know that part where Ash was a ghost and lifted Misty in the air? Someone on Serebii forums once said that if Ash really loved her, he could've simply lowered her instead of saying, "Catch her, Brock!" and dropping her. That actually sounds like Ash is trying to make Gymshipping canon.
6) Ash & Dawn might have more than a mere friendship. All anti-Pearl people say that the high-fives were just a friendship thing, but note that Ash never high-fived another girl! PearlShipping is just that one ship where the two act like best friends but are in love secretly.
Sorry, that's it for now. And yes, I am a huge Gymshipper before you ask.

Ash and Misty actually high fived, but the point is they don't have the relationship to match. The song 'High Touch' shows exactly what Ash and Dawn's high fives mean, and they mean much more than if Ash high fived anyone else.
You're right, I wouldn't want to marry my worst enemy. Ash and Misty are filled with rage and jealousy whereas Ash and Dawn are filled with love and joy.

These are all great reasons to counter pokeshipping!!! Maybe if one of us ends up having an argument we could use all these. Sorry I never posted these back to that person. I feel a bit ungrateful not to use some of them and just use my own -__-
