Now, I know everyone is all jubilant about Ash finally winning a league, but this doesn't feel like a real victory to me. This League was basically on Easy Mode the whole time, half of it was one on one battles. He's just handed the Championship and doesn't have to fight an Elite Four like every other region. It doesn't feel like this was earned it was handed to him.

I can understand that. Given how the qualifiers is just one big battle royal, most match ups being 1v1, the semi being 2v2, and the finals being 3v3, it definitely felt underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad the guy finally won and all. It's certainly something to be happy about. But at the end of the day, it just didn't feel satisfying. Back when DP was still airing, the Sinnoh League was pretty hyped up for me. Ash vs Paul was still the greatest fight in my book and you can imagine how disappointed I was when they decided to throw in Tobias mostly for the sake of Ash losing. Sure it's a feat alone to take down two of his Pokémon, but I can only imagine what it could've been if Tobias didn't exist or if Ash vs Paul was moved to the finals instead. I didn't watch much of the XY series, mostly because of a lack of time, but from what I've heard, the fights were pretty hyped up too for the Kalos league and there was great backlash when Ash lost in the semi finals. It just feels as though this win, while something to be happy about, isn't something more grand or memorable. The fight was just good. And that's about it. Almost as if this win was just a response to the Kalos league backlash. But that's just a thought to have around. In the end, it just feels empty afterwards when you look back at past leagues and what it could have been.

Honestly Sinnoh was perfect except for Tobias. With him bringing old Pokémon back made it feel like a culmination of all that came before.

It was quite an easy league for Satoshi. I hope it was just a warm up for him. I wonder if he competes in all the previous leagues since he has 8 badges from all previous regions.

Honestly Trollbias makes all other league look like jokes. I don't know, Alain was pretty tough.

Honestly Trollbias makes all other league look like jokes. I don't know, Alain was pretty tough. He was made to look tough, but Tobias was made to be insurmountable. You do not just pull a team full of legendaries out of nowhere. Even if he was made to look like a bad trainer, his team alone is enough to put an end to any battle whatsoever. In other words, I believe the purpose of Tobias was not to say that Ash lacked the skill, but simply to indicate that the time had not come for him to win (aka for the PokeAni to end) because fate. I cannot think of any other reason they stuffed the team with all legendaries instead of just another great trainer with ordinary Pokémon.

I see what you mean. I haven't watched it yet, but from what I heard, it was way too underwhelming. It only had a few challenging challengers for ash, & having a battle royal for the preliminaries, Plus there were no 6 vs 6 battles (biggest 3 vs 3?), & I heard he can't even go into the champion league. Ash also didn't even worked for it like the other leagues he started out wanting to earn 8 badges. Here he was just doing school here & hanging out with friends, when suddenly kuikui made him a league. I guess it's expected though, as most people in Alola (in the anime) weren't battle orientated & the most Pokémon people had were like 2-3 Pokémon (even ash didn't have a full Alola team atm).

If Satoshi won in Kalos, it would give a certain part of the fan base feel vindicated and ideally we don’t want that.

If Satoshi won in Kalos, it would give a certain part of the fan base feel vindicated and ideally we don’t want that. The funny thing is that Kalos is actually Ash's easiest league to date because he was given a whole mechanic unique to himself (Ash-Greninja), which means he is on higher ground compare to others, while in other league he is severely disadvantaged (Kanto, because he did not earn all 8 badges or Sinnoh because Trollbias) or on equal ground.
