so the biggest reason why so many dismiss pearlshipping is because 'they act like siblings.'
...I don't get it. At my school, when these two known siblings were hanging out together, skipping together, and always talking with each other were rumored to be secretly dating. Why? Because siblings AREN'T USUALLY CLOSE BFFFFL'S, OR EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE TO IT. Expcally boy/girl siblings.
"So...siblings aren't supposed to be close?"
Not super close. There can be some times where they get along, like ash & misty for example (they danced, sometimes cheer each other on, work together, etc...).
However, they usaually have their own group of friends they prefer to hangout with expcally boy/girl siblings. In both cases (misty & dawn) they stood by ash each through the whole region. However, misty's reason for traveling with him wasn't due to getting along well with ash. As we all know, she wanted ash to pay her back for her bike. Something which ash never took seriously. While dawn wanted to travel with ash cuz she enjoyed his & pikachu's company.
"Both are known to argue a lot though. So by your logic, both sides are like siblings!"
remember what was posted about dawn & ash's arguments being healthy, while arguments like misty's & ash's aren't?
well to add to that. Remember ash & misty rarely, if ever apologized to each other. I bet even to this day, they believe that they don't need to apologize to him/her, but the other should. Something that you know, siblings (expcally young) think.
also, to break them up, brock/Tracey was needed, or they probably would've ended up killing each other. Brock seemed to try sometimes with dawn & ash, but he never told them to apologize. They did that regardless because they felt bad for the argument.
plus Misty knocks ash off his high horse, while dawn helps him with his goal. Misty (besides trying to get ash to borrow her Pokémon for brock, but he declined rudely & afterwords she threw a fit something siblings would do) never helped ash with his goal wether it'd be training or encouragement. In fact, he belittled his achievements cuz 'he didn't deserve most his Pokémon or badges.'
siblings love to knock their other siblings off their high horse. They don't help you achieve your dreams Most the time. Dawn however, helped ash perfect her ideas, cheered for him (going as far as being his personal cheerleader in some places) ash helped her get some moves down, and cheered her own all the way.
"But ash picks on misty! That means he secretly likes her!"
not quite. Siblings, expcally males like to pick on & tease their siblings as well.
"But ash was jealous of..."
rudy: ... no. I'm sorry, but that is a POOR argument you have that ash is into misty. Rudy was being a poor judge, slacking on his job, & not paying attention to how ash was performing. That's why ash was upset with Rudy, & its perfectly reasonable for him to be upset about it.
imagine, you practiced something you've been doing for years, went to go compete/go into a talent contest and bring a close family member with you for support. When you preform however, the judge flirts with you're family memeber, & obvious from the start that he didn't pay attention at all to you. Then after your done, just shouts 'Next!' Would you be jelous for being furious with him/her? No!

okay everybody. Let's all keep in mind of ash's OS personality here. He liked to show off, was pretty vain, a little self-centered, & was overconfident. Keeping 'he's a kid' in mind, he more than likely didn't understand what was so amazing of what Tracey did & thought it was something simple anyone could do, & that misty was making a big deal out of nothing. Siblings also liked to downplay the others siblings thoughts.
"How would you know ash wasn't really jealous?"
Cuz the writer himself said they where just friends? Cuz ash believes she's 'ugly'? but in all honesty, there's nothing beyond to indicate that he was truely jealous. Afterwords he didn't treat Tracey differently, didn't suddenly want Tracey to leave, & didn't threaten or even talked to Tracey about it.
Danny:
now remembering ash's personality, & the fact that they all just met Danny that episode (& misty known ash since about the first episode). What IS so special about Danny?
"Ash was jealous and wanted to snuggle with misty in a blanket"
woah. I think people just twist his words there. He said, "what about me?" When everyone else had blankets (or is getting one), he worked hard too, & his standing there SHIVERING in the cold. No one is catering to him. Does this look like misty cares?
"They blushed at each other when TRio teased them about being lovebirds."
well, idk how many of you have been teased about that, expcally about someone you really don't like like that. You don't just blush for crushing, there's also embarrassment, shame, anger, being sick, etc..
Ash never directly blushed at misty. She's been in a kimono, mermaid outfit, & I think even a swimsuit. But the best misty got is a little surprise look from him. In which, it's probably because 'she actually looks like a girl.' Ash does blush at girls he likes, like giselle . I don't think misty has directly blushed at ash ether. So there's no hint really at secret hidden love from ether of them.
of course, they aren't siblings. Nether is ash & dawn. So really, there's nothing wrong if you dislike inscest but like pokeshipping or pearlshipping. I just see pokeshipping more sibling like ... than most other Pokémon shippings (discluding actual siblings of course).
