A common claim by many people is that they say that Dawn has finished her development and doesn't really have anymore. Did Dawn's characterization reached completion or do you guys feel that Dawn has a lot more potential character growth? Therefore by their logic, Dawn has already served her purpose and no longer needs to be in the show. Going by their logic, Serena received plenty of character development and no longer needs to be in the show. Even though Amourshippers complain and whine about her not being in Alola.

Dawn decided to travel with her Pokémon to Hoenn because she believed that her Pokémon can still grow and develop. I believe this also means that she can still grow and develop

Well of course, I mean she still needs to win the grand festival and become top coordinator! I say she can still grow as a character even though she is the most developed, so far, out of the Pokegirls.

Dawn and Serena have similar development arcs except Dawn's had better pacing but slower development while Serena had erratic pacing but ridiculous levels of development.
I mean at the end of DP, Dawn's desire was to travel with Ash but she had to have her priorities. There was still more room left for Dawn to grow but they downplayed romance in regards to Dawn. In Serena's case, they written as if she was struggling to form a bond with Ash. So like Dawn, she still had more potential for development.
Dawn and Serena started out on their new journeys by not starting from scratch, as in abandoning most of their team like Ash does. I think in order for them to develop further, they have to start all over again from scratch. In terms of emotional development, Serena can't progress without Dawn and Dawn can't progress without Serena. Without either of the two, Dawn will remain forever dense and Serena will struggle to form a bond with Ash. They can't accomplish that only on their own.
It's getting impossible to predict the future of the series as of now. But Nov 10th is the Cilan and Clemont episode in Kalos but they might have another major preview for SM. Yet they are also hyping up the date for some reason.
As for the others:
Misty's development stopped the moment by the time they were in Johto because of Togepi.
May didn't have much strongly character development arcs and subplot on the level of Dawn and Serena nor there was much attention given to her. Her fate was that she became more attached to her rivals, especially Drew.
Iris just wants to be a dragon master and there was almost no development for her.

Of course she hasn't finish her development!!!! She has so much more to give!!!! She hasn't approached her goal yet!!! And I don`t know if she really needs Serena to go to the next level of development!!! In my opinion it wouldn't be a good idea if those two meet up!!!! Not because they wouldn't get along, who doesn't like Dawn she is such a pleasant person ,but for the reason that Serena would benefit more from Dawn than the opposite!!! Also if Serena realize that Dawn has feelings for Ash she would be more problem than help for Dawn!!! In conclusion those two shouldn't meet or they could meet after Ash has choose Dawn!!!
