Do you have a larger version, or just the text? Maybe it's because it's already late here and I have trouble keeping my eyes open, but this is difficult to read for me.
Well, here's what I can decipher:
Title: ... *(Can't read that, my first guess was "The death is the beginning")
I was with you the whole time,
I have felt your biggest suffering.
The fear we shared, the pain we felt,
our souls touched deeply.
I was with you last night,
watched over you in my dream.
From the deepest slumber I woke up,
and I knew that you're with her now.
The great snake, that closed your eyes, *(it's actually a certain type of snake, in this case just to decribe a the antagonist)
rocks you softly in her lap.
I know you're sheltered and free from suffering,
so I'm also ready for it.
In love, I let you go, *(I don't know whether the second word is Ruhe (tranquility, calm) or Liebe (love))
and I know, we will see each other again.
In love (?) and ... from the bottom of my heart. *(One of the words should be love, but I don't know what's the other one.)
In peace! *(Not entirely sure about that either)
It's the first time I tried to translate a peom and probably the last time. As I said, I couldn't decipher all of it, but it should give you an idea of what it's about. As you guessed, it's a sad poem.
