I made different threads about various Amourshipping sayings/arguments a while back. This thread is 5 of them in 1 so that there won’t be too many threads.
I know what happens. I'm aware that this could be easily be seen by Amours elsewhere just like anything else said here about Amour. People see this forum as a primary source of "anti-Amour". Come to think of it, it's really just me spewing this stuff, not all Pearlshippers. I promise these below statements don't bash Serena; they just make clarifications from a Pearlshippers pov.
Lastly, these are not facts. These are simply my thoughts and my view of things that are often said.
In fact, there’s a chance that Ash and Serena could happen. Ash could easily fall in love with Serena. If that happens, then this thread means nothing. So take it easy people.
Food Argument
You may or may not have heard of this before:
Statement: "Because Serena can make food for Ash, it makes her the perfect girl for Ash. The best way to a man's heart is through his stomach and Serena does that best."
Once again, it's not that this is invalid. This is true. I would love to eat Serena's Pokepuffs myself! It's just that this hint treated like only Serena is amazing enough to do such a thing. It's like she is automatically the best partner for Ash because she is the only one that can make food for him. Or is she?
Dawn can also make poffins just like May can make Pokeblocks. "But humans can't eat that; humans can actually eat Pokepuffs!" It's also apparent that Serena has baked cookies for Ash as well. Then again, this is one of the lesser evidences Amourshipping uses.
As it turns out, Dawn has made food for Ash as well. Dawn has actually made Ash lunch one time. That's right, in DP094 it was just Ash and Dawn alone in the house together (with their Pokémon of course). Ash enjoyed his lunch that day, and it was courtesy of Dawn. I don't know about you, but I'd rather have lunch than snacks.
This doesn't mean that Serena will never acquire the skill to cook a meal in the future. She could very well cook a meal in the future. In fact, I know she will. Besides, they will likely visit her house after the 5th gym and more of Serena's "house" skills could be shown.
But that's not the point. The point is that Serena is not the only one who can reach Ash's heart through his stomach.
No Father Argument
Statement: "Both Ash's and Serena's father are not shown in the anime. This makes Ash and Serena good for each other."
When it comes to evidence, this is more of just a similarity. And it's not like this is invalid. Ash and Serena's mother are the only ones shown. It's just that this information is used as if they're the only ones with that similarity.
Just like with Ash, Dawn's father has also not been shown. So it's not like Ash and Serena being "fatherless" makes them the chosen couple. Ash and Dawn have the same similarity; it's not exclusive to Amour.
Speculation Argument
Statement: "At least our one-sided hints are canon. Your two-sided hints are speculation."
So what if your one-sided hints are canon? Conway and Kenny's one-sided hints are canon. Angie, Anabel, and Macy's one-sided hints are canon. Heck, even Brock's one-sided hints for girls are canon. There's no difference, unless you look at it like this:
No wonder Kenny wanted to be Dawn's traveling companion. Because then he would be special too.
Honestly, all shippers have to speculate. Just because Amour doesn't have to speculate about one side doesn't mean that it is the only the ship that doesn't have to speculate. It is said that Serena's hints aren't "speculation", but that avoids the fact that Ash's hints are.
This doesn't mean that AshxSerena will not become canon. Who knows? Ash and Serena might be the couple that becomes official in the end. But for now, Amourshipping is not the only "ship that doesn't have to guess anything or speculate". Just look at Ash's hints; speculation is still involved. For now. We'll just have to wait and see.
Just because there is less speculation doesn't mean a more canon relationship. Take Conway, for instance. Conway has canon feelings for Dawn with tangible hints. Does that make Conway closer to Dawn than Ash? I don't think so. In the same way, Serena's "lack of speculation" doesn't make her any closer to Ash. It takes more than just a crush to make a relationship. Less speculation doesn't make things any better. On Serena's side, yes, Amour is less speculatory, but Ash's side of the SS Amour is just as speculatory.
Right now. At this moment in time. That could easily change at the end or some time in the series. Ash could eventually have the same feelings for Serena because she "helped him so much in every single gym battle and gym strategy" and "Serena's gone so far just for me."
I could be completely wrong. Next thing I know, Ash and Serena will become canon. But for right now, I like the couple with the best and closest relationship. That's where opinions vary.
Dug Deep Argument (Updated):
Statement: "Oh Arceus! The writers have dug themselves into a hole! They are backed into a corner! They've dug (developed) Amour so DEEP that THIS has to happen! They can't get out now!"
In other words, since Serena likes Ash and has a history with him, it makes Ash liking her back plausible.
In the previous version of this argument, there was much "bashing" about how Serena had no goal and only one Pokémon. Obviously, that is no longer true, and the series did a commendable job to develop her.
The supporting facts may have changed, but the basis is the same. The only thing that is has been dug deep so far is Ash's history with Serena (and vice versa) and Serena's feelings for Ash. Nothing has changed. At least not yet. But until Ash shows the same feelings for Serena, Amourshipping is not dug deep. Who knows? Ash and Serena's date could reveal that Ash likes Serena.
Since the only thing "dug deep" so far between them is mutual history and Serena's feelings, the writers are NOT backed in a corner.
But, that could very well change. In fact, popularity may already be doing that. However, it has been suggested that Amour has been so pushed forward that it will cause the other ships to fail if Amour dies. Which leads to the next statement...
"You Die With Us" Argument
Statement: "Because Ash and Serena is the furthest the series has gone romantically with an Ash ship, the chance of the other ships becoming canon will die if Amour goes down."
Think about that. Serena is Ash's only choice? No, of course not, Ash can choose from many girls. What this is saying refers to love on-screen. But why would Serena's failure (if she did) affect the failures of the other girls? As previously mentioned, the main thing that was dug deep was Serena's history and feelings for Ash. But, that does not make the terms "Serena" and "romance" inseparable. It's the same reason why Anabel, Macy, and Angie could have feelings for Ash no problem.
Serena does not own the word romance, crush, or "canon love". So if Serena was taken out from the picture, the ability to add "canon love" would not be taken away. That's all there is to it. The writers could definitely implement romance again, likely with someone in an older series. It just wouldn't be the same, that's all. For them, it wouldn't be "as special".
Also, other ships have their share of development as well; all the writers would have to do is support the next best ship. However, in terms of new girls, this would be true. For a female companion to be with Ash, Serena really did set the bar high. How is a future girl (if any) going to have more history and crushing than Serena? So yes, future companions wouldn't have a chance. But, the older ones could.
This really just says to join or die. Sad for non-Amourshippers, but true.
Wait, so I should fall in love the person who likes me the most?
Okay, so I should fall in love with the person who I have the most history with?
Okay, so I should fall in love with the person that the most people would agree with?
I think I've figured it out. I am forced to find the person who has the biggest crush on me as well as the most childhood history with me. That will be the person I absolutely have to fall in love with no matter what. Also, popularity is a must have if I want us to work out. So, I then have to go around and make the sure the relationship between me and that person is the most popular. If it isn't, then I'll do every single thing possible in order to increase our popularity. I'll send out free large photos of us on Valentine's Day to get to agree. I'll even fix up my "future spouse" if it makes my spouse appealing to our family and friends. When we finally become popular amongst others, I will compute a list of reasons why I "love" that person to justify my "love" for my predetermined partner. In order to get those reasons, I will preset many scenarios for us to go through that will yield the best results.
There's still many episodes of XY left, so this could eventually be disproven, especially at the end. There’s an extremely high chance that another Ash/Serena poster will be made in 2015. “Serena Gets Serious”, the next episode, might even have a game-changing hint. Everything changed when the Amourshipping arrived. Or, as thedarkwolf01 said:

"No, Ash and Serena have a HISTORY!"
"Don't forget that Ash and Serena are the most popular!"
"No, Ash and Serena went on a journey, which means Ash will like so much more about Serena. Examples would be her baking skills, her performing talent, her beauty, her love for Pokémon, the fact that she healed Ash's foot, the fact that she 'dated' Ash, and most importantly helping Ash win the Kalos League and gym battles."
"Bingo, you finally got it."
