Ash used a move that looked a lot like counter-shield. I don't think it was referred to as such...but I could be wrong. I don't know if counter-shield goes by a different name in the Japanese sub. Did anyone else notice this during the battle? What was going on there?

auda: I severely underestimated the amount of time it would take. While I'm typesetting this, I'm reading the old translation of V1 from years back for the first time. Some bubbles are entirely wrong, but it has also helped me a bit a few times on a few.
