I’ve seen Pearlshippers across the Internet say that the original Japanese version of the anime is more Pearl-shippy.
Is this true? Or is it just Pearlshippers being biased and talking out of their asses?
Besides the daijoubu thing, and the songs...can anyone give any specific examples of the Japanese version being more ‘romantic?’ I mean scenes from the actual show, interactions, etc. And can you make a comparison with the English version of said scenes?

I think most of this claim comes from the Japanese OPs and EDs but not the series itself. Not sure about DP tho, since I admittedly haven't watched it in a long time.

JohtoFesta ONE hint I remember people constantly talking about is how in the Princess Salvia episode, Ash says Dawn looks pretty in the Japanese version but just says the outfit looks good on her in the English one. Just checked and can confirm (with my now slightly existent Japanese ability) he just said she looks good and did NOT say pretty in the japanese version lmao. So I agree with PikaFUSION. Like idk if one could even consider the movie endings a hint cause they're just songs, but cause high touch is sung by their seiyuus I WOULD consider that a firm hint and if you compare that to the galactic battles opening it is definitely shippier by anyone's standards

I wanna compare with my also somewhat existent Japanese ability. Likely tho it could be the subtitles closing the fancier word to flow better. That is my best guess I remember Pearlshipping TV's video mainly mentioned High Touch for the Japanese version of AniPoke and less of the actual Japanese version of AniPoke for hints, but my memory could be fuzzy.

I watched the clip on 9anime and here are my thoughts: Agreed with @icearceus on this one. Even the subs (at least the subs on 9anime) said in that line "It looks really good on you, Hikari." If I were to guess why people claimed Ash said Dawn looked pretty in the Japanese version, it would be a simple case of Mandela effect. Before Ash speaks, Dawn says "So pretty!". People most likely mixed up the two dialogues, hence the Mandela effect occurring.

PikaFUSION IceArceus Yeah, I guess it’s just the overall attitude with the Japanese version. All the surrounding material, songs, etc. And they were sold as a pair. What with the opening text being “the adventures of Satoshi AND Hikari.” No other main girl has been this important. She was, for all intents and purposes, a deuteragonist. She was the only girl to truly be Ash’s equal. In every way, even in the meta. But yeah, if nothing else, definitely High Touch! alone is enough. And is way more than any other Ash X Main Girl ship can say. None of the other main girls has a duet with Ash. It gets pretty sappy too, lol: Through today, tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow This journey goes forever on, but Always... Your smile is with me!
To the north, to the south, east and west The scenery goes on changing, but No matter where I go... Your smile is always there! These stanzas are especially good for shipping. idk, ONE points pretty strongly to Pearl: “Thousands of flower petals come pouring down on us…”I mean, who else could this be referring to in the context of the movie? Ice Cream Syndrome is suspect as well.

JohtoFesta Ah yeah, they do, but I mean, I'd be less willing to place weight on the movie endings just cause they're not sung by the voice actors. There ARE some shippy lyrics tho you're right. Maybe I'm just being overcautious to overcompensate for the fact we used to get accused of reading into things too much lmao Actually thinking back on it now, I'm really surprised that Serena didn't get a duet with Ash even with all their ship bait. And that they haven't done another duet with him and a main girl. Haha I guess we can still be pretty smug about that

Also remember that some of the controversial videos were about Bunnelby, Dawn supporting Amour, the Fist Bump, and Ash and Serena's argument TBH, I forgot most of the videos, but most referenced this one 40 minute analysis of High Touch if they talked about the Japanese version of AniPoke
