Hello everyone. I am probably too busy to post too regularly but will try to produce something once in a while.
I have only recently gotten back into Pokémon anime after watching XYZ (Because of its popularity). Then I decided to watch my favorite Generation: Gen 4, because I like the creation trio the most among all legendary Pokémon (They make the most sense) and the Pokémon design in Gen 4 was my favorite overall. Another reason is that I find Dawn's design is the best for a girl character in Pokémon overall. A scarf, perfect for winter, and a short dress, perfect for summer. It does not look very realistic but it shows that she is ready for all weather, and thus, ready for adventure. At the same time, her attire is pink and black which is very girly and cute. Her beanie does not look like it could fall off any moments like that of the girl in XYZ (Serena I believe), but it is also white and pink and fluffy, and shows an obvious parallel to Ash. Her design is definitely the most balanced. I was shocked that I did not know that she even existed prior to this (She also does not seem to have many merchandise either, like figures and stuff, and I am living in Japan currently), because it is quite obvious that if Pokémon ever wanted a female mascot then it should be her, regardless of whether she is popular or not.
After watching, Diamond and Pearl is definitely my favorite installment of the PokeAni. Now if we purely talk about which installment is the most well-written then that is definitely XYZ (After watching Sun and Moon and Black and White too). The amount of details put into every character and scene is the best to date. But at the same time, it does not really abide to the identity of Pokémon: Friendship and Rivalry, Determination and Dream and the joy of adventures. In light of these points, Diamond and Pearl does way better, and the writing is only slightly weaker. For rivalry, Ash and Paul's is still the best to date and with friendship then obviously Ash and Dawn's is unrivaled. The fact that Dawn is my favorite girl is also a bonus.
But what does it have to do with Pearlshipping? Well unlike people I have met for all 20 years of my short life, I cannot actually see any difference between love and friendship other than love involves sex and friendship does not. However, in modern days when friends can have casual sex without worrying about consequences that distinction is also questionable. After all, friends are someone who understands you, who supports you, who you trust and trust you, who you can confide all your secrets and up and low, and your love is... pretty much the same thing.
Regardless of whether a relationship can be classified as love or not, two people who understand and support each other as much as Ash and Dawn are more worthy of shipping than any other kind of relationship.
With this post I only want to explain why I decided to register. I am really bad at introduction in general, so I do not really know what to say, please bare with me for any possible flaws in my post.
