Some of the pokedex entries for Luvdisc have some speculate that the scene with the submarine with luvdics coming across the screen with Dawn & Ash standing by each other mean something in Hold the Phione.
Ruby
Luvdisc live in shallow seas in the tropics. This heart-shaped Pokémon earned its name by swimming after loving couples it spotted in the ocean's waves.
Sapphire
Luvdisc's heart-shaped body is a symbol of love and romance. It is said that any couple meeting this Pokémon is promised a loving relationship that never ends.
Diamond, Pearl, Black, White, Black 2, White 2, X
It lives in warm seas. It is said that a couple finding this Pokémon will be blessed with eternal love.

So this can be viewed that if they get together, they'll have a happy life long relationship. However... in SM 31 (The Pokémon Whisperer), Oliva and Ash swim around and Luvdiscs are shown to calmly swim past them like in Hold the Phione: (skip to 13:13 - 13:17). They are the only ones swimming (besides Pikachu & that one Pokémon who comes across the screen), but I don't think the writers would suggest a relationship with Ash and an adult. So in any case, it looks like the writers of the anime ether don't care about some of the pokedex entries, or it doesn't apply to them since they are not a couple & just need a place to show Luvdisc somewhere. Even in the anime dex entry, it mentions nothing about couples finding them are going to be blessed.

Of course, there is a lot of things great about pearlshipping that no other ships have. It just doesn't look like the seeing luvdiscs in the main series is as big as some may have thought. :C
