If he knows Dawn, he went to Sinnoh, if went to Sinnoh, he had all the battles we saw. You can't say he had those experienes and then discount what those experiences gave him; it doesn't make any sense. The writing in Unova was bad, but he also had the worst team since Kanto.

Skills and experiences are not the same. Experience is all he's gone through in every single region that he traveled and skill is the abilities did he earn by training hard.
As a trainer Ash almost had no skills in BW hence a reset in his skills did happen.

If I double posted it was accidental. Probably thought it didn't post the first time. All I'm saying is you can't have it both ways. Either his character was rebooted and he lost the skills or all of his previous adventures happened. If they acknowledge his previous adventures then he has the knowledge that he gained from all those regions. Whether or not he chooses to use it.
