Just think about what would happen on youtube (for example) if Ash got a girl other than Misty. There would be so many complaints, but then you realize that most of the 'big guns' are also Pokeshippers. All the JWittz has to do is make a video saying Ash should have been with Misty and it's all over. Now you might be thinking that he's just a Youtuber with no effect. The JWittz has been able to localize EVERY single Japanese-exclusive video game that he has mentioned in a video. (Not that I dislike the JWittz tho, he's awesome)
If (satokasu) fans were revolting enough, would it be enough into influence the writers who Ash should be with? (This can be before a 'mate' is chosen or after.)

Well, the thing about Gakishipping is it has spread a little more from not just the TV series, but some mangas as well.
It depends, really. Could be that the mangas may have given it more focus than the series (well, the later extent), where Diamond and Pearl, Pearlshipping was evenly focused in both anime and manga.
