Here's the full analysis (written in 2012):
*************************
"Kimi no Mune ni Lalala is the 4th and last ending of Diamond and Pearl. Despite it's not being considered a lot, it contains many lines that probably reference PearlShipping. The first step is understanding whose Point Of View (POV) it is sung by. Let's remember that the openings and endings from the show are canon when something relevant is stated (lots of them are sung by Rica Matsumoto = Ash, and High Touch! is sung by Ash & Dawn, as we know), while movie ones aren't. The song is in first person, and sung by a girl. That should be enough to reassure us it isn't a generic thing. Translation are taken from Bulbapedia.
You're overflowing; the wind passes through a grass path - On the other side of the swaying heat haze, your dazzling smile, just like that...
- After the 1st refrain, we already have a line that says "your dazzling smile"... anyone remembers High Touch!, when Dawn said "いつだって...... すぐそばに その笑顔!" (Always...Your smile is with me!)? Sounds very legit that's the same person, TO the same person. In High Touch!, she was saying that to Ash... very probably that's here, too. -
To my heart, La La La, it has arrived, La La La - That voice I hear when I'm crushed - The same moments, La La La, are walking along, La La La - We'll always, always be special friends!
- Voice. She's talking about a voice. The voice she hears when she's crushed. So what, a Pokémon's voice? It would be comic xD now we're pretty sure it's a person, because she's cheered up by his voice. -
From the time of birth, there will always be someone who would protect
- "Someone", now it's even more clear that IS Ash. Someone who would protect... well, that's surely kind of romantic. -
In your heart, La La La, sketch a dream, La La La - I like you better, because you persevered the most
- This is the MOST IMPORTANT PART of the song. What Bulbapedia says is "I like you better", but it isn't enough for us. (Kimi ga suki dakara). Anyone knows what KIMI GA SUKI means? That means "I love you", in the way used by young people (young love, to be better intended). The translation with "I like you" it's correct, but only if we know it's the "young version" of "I love you". Yes, this song, very probably sung by Dawn's P.O.V. and very probably directed to Ash, said "I love you". Have your conclusions! -
Conveying with each other's thoughts, a miracle will definitely happen
- Last thing to analyze. It's simply harmony. Conveying with each other's thoughts... harmony is the biggest charateristic of PearlShipping, so the description perfectly fits. And, well, a miracle will definitely happen. So remember: there's always hope. Dawn said that! -
Thanks for reading this topic. We would be happy if you participate to the discussion in this note, explaining your opinions about this song. This is also for celebrating the 500 Likes, a great goal we're very happy to achieve. Faithfully yours, the PearlShipping Facebook Page!"
