So this isn’t so much a legitimate question from my end, I know my answer (will post later), but I wanted to ask why you think so. And please add some detail and cite some episodes or songs. I’m wondering just how many active members are left on this so that also plays a factor  |

I don't remember it's been a while since I saw the anime. I think it's because it's not as in your face as the whole armourshipping thing is, where Serena blushes every time Ash looks at her.

I feel like the ship is more casual because the characters themselves are more casual. Misty was quite often hash on Ash (imo she is second best girl), with May (Im only around half way theough my Advance viewing) she seems the be more focused on her contests than anything else, Iris was Iris (enough said), and Serena is just kind of over the top I guess would be the way to describe her. Dawn is just spends casual time with Ash and thats probably why I like the ship so much even if there aren’t many active members any more (myself included).

Because Dawn is the female version of Ash. Nothing wrong with it, but Dawn is much different than all the other girls for a wide variety of reasons. Ash hasn’t thought much of the other girls and doesn’t show much emotion towards them except for Dawn. Dawn is a far more important person to Ash compared to the other girls because she has the rival potential. Because Ash and Dawn also have this rivalry element to their relationship, also makes this much more unique compared to the rest. Dawn brings out the best in Ash just as Ash brings out the best in Dawn. Because as far as I know, Ash hasn’t showed much of his true self when around others, except for Dawn.

Ash and Dawn are also more comfortable around each other, to the point where they're emotionally assisting each other. That level of trust just can't be replicated.
