There are several situations that one could possibly think of when it comes to those moments between Ash and Dawn throughout DP and during a part of the BW series when Dawn returned. Tough as it was to choose, for me it would have to be the following.
Ironically, my most memorable one had to be right at the end of DP just as Ash and Brock are about to leave for the Kanto region. While it may have been one of the saddest moments to have ever taken place, it was also something special. If you were like me a few years back after having watching Pokémon again and seeing this particular episode for the first time, you could feel the pain that Dawn felt, knowing she'd never see those guys again especially Ash. She honestly wanted to stay with him so badly, and Ash certainly wasn't going to object to bringing her along for more of his adventures. Of course, we know that had it not been for that photo shoot opportunity for Buneary, she would have been able to stay by his side. At least Dawn was able to share one last high-five with him before Ash had to leave, and I've always believed that Brock could see just how deeply connected Ash and Dawn were right as that was taking place; maybe going so far as to say that had it not been for Ash's tendency of not knowing much about romance, he could easily see these two being in a relationship.
Sad as it may be of Ash's departure from the Sinnoh region was for her, Ash going out of his way to use her catchphrase before it was too late was enough to make Dawn suddenly smile so brightly as she waves goodbye back to him. Despite this being their goodbye, there was just something about this one particular scene that really makes it stand out amongst the rest of the Pearlshipping moments that also makes this heartwarming and special. Whether it's because of the display of Ash and Dawn's true bond or something else, one thing's for certain: These two are certainly the kind of pair that could never forget one another for years to come and will always be close to one another be it physically or in their hearts, and that's exactly what I see out of this.
There are a couple of other favs of mine that I could have mentioned here, but this one (albeit sad) was unique in its own way, and for something like this to have touched my heart like it did yields another reason why I'll always love Pearlshipping, no matter what.
