Tfw everyone believes that girls are replaceable lol Only girls irrelevant to the endgame are replaceable, i.e. nearly all of them for instance. They have had their role to play in their generation storyline and nothing more other than that. But as for the rest, they've shown that they are quite irreplaceable, no matter how much people like or dislike them. It's all for marketing purposes to push the future games and sell merchandise, I suppose. Which is also why Pearlshipping itself is still going strong after an absence of many years and how Amourshipping literally bulldozed all over the other ships, save for Pearlshipping. The others, aside from *cough* Amour *cough* couldn't stand a chance. Speaking of merchandising, they have an appealing design that caters to a broad spectrum of people, not just the Pokémon fans. Of course that's also why figures of both Dawn and Serena are pretty expensive nowadays. I think the Dawn prize figure is about $125 used but unopened ones can go for $200. Serena had a poseable figure that is currently $75 used (if you're lucky) but unopened ones are about $125-150. It's a pretty huge price spike even though back when they were released in their generation they were worth around $15. I think they really need to make more Dawn and Serena figures to keep up with the demand.

Yeah, I have read your Serena and Dawn theory and I agree with it, but I don't see it happening anytime soon... Mainly, because the writers have proven themselves multiple times that they don't want to change the standard formula for the anime and IF it comes to happen it'll probably be at the very last season or series, but with the coming of Sun and Moon at least the main Go into new region, defeat gym leaders, lose the league horribly or unfairly, is gonna have to change so maybe the future isn't looking as bleak as it was before

The 3DS is a dying system, and a new system would replace it eventually sooner than later. I don't think they'll stretch out the show with three years of fillers while not busy promoting the eventual NX games. I also doubt Rica Matsumoto would be put on life support to voice Ash because she is going to retire eventually. Especially since the NX would release next year and there would be another new mainline Pokémon game in 2017 after the NX release to boost sales. I don't think the NX games in the near future would even feature a new region this time. There is huge demand for people wanting to see Kanto, Johto and even Sinnoh in 3D. They've already shaken up the formula with Sun&Moon, just as they did with XY. The SM cast for the most part looks unmemorable and fleeting to me, and I doubt they'll ship Ash with anyone from Alola as much as they did with Dawn or Serena. Maybe the story could be an alternate reality as described in the TCG and ORAS. I don't think the league loss or the loss of Ash-Greninja is that bad as it seems, even though I wasn't attached to them. And to that end, Piplup is still quite popular despite not being in the show for years. So I would doubt they will retcon the relationship between Pikachu and Piplup.

People underestimate Pearlshipping no because is chronological far away but it`s more easy to let somethings behind!!!! And personally think that Pearlshipping demands more thinking than Amourshipping and people prefer when they watching TV not to think!!!! So it`s not only thr marketing but the nature of DP that makes the difference!!!!
