Ummmm.... I've gotta point out something. Anti pearlshippers keep talking about how the ship is soley platonic. But, dawn is just as dense as ash. So, i don't think that's true. The entire lyra arch is proof of that. Brock even comes out and says that dawn is oblivious to HER OWN feelings. Lyra says the same about ash. So, that in and of itself should be proof as to how the ship is more than just a platonic relationship.
Serena has had so much time now to develop from her losses and is barely even doing that. I'm not happy with serena. I wanna like her so bad but i just cant.

My problem with Serena and Amourshipping is that it's all so half-assed compared to Dawn and Pearlshipping. A comparison of both their stories and personalities would show glaring differences between the two. I've tried hard to like Serena and Iris before her, but they're just so awful in a sad way. And Serena's design was wasted on a lackluster personality and development. If they really wanted Amour to dethrone Pearl, they would have aggressively promoted it like Pearlshipping back in the day.

satohikaWait, Pearlshipping was promoted even more than Amourshipping back in the days?! It's also partially why Pearlshipping over in Japan still has the characteristic of resilience akin to that of Pokeshipping (at least what was prior to Amour) outside of Japan. In various types of advertisements and media (like music, manga, games, etc.) back in the day have cemented the impression that Pearlshipping was if not canon, certainly very close to canon over in Japan. Amourshipping may be overhyped but has largely failed to win over most Pearlshippers in Japan and the rest of the world for that matter. To top it all off, Serena since her introduction isn't popular in Japan. Japan is a very high-contextual culture and thus the relationship between Ash and Dawn's Pokémon is seen as an extension of Pearlshipping itself. Keep in mind while they're not blowing it in your faces like Amour, it's a lot more effective cementing what is implied in a relationship than what they do with Amour now. And that Japanese readily identify more with Dawn than Serena speaks volumes. I mean you guys hardly see Ash and Serena alone in most movie posters and advertisements, right? That's cause Ash and Dawn were co-stars while Serena is a side character. Since when has anyone read or saw Ash and Serena alone with their Pokémon outside of the anime like they did with Ash and Dawn on numerous occasions? Amourshipping doesn't seem right here, and the underlying relationship dynamic is significantly different and on a different level than Pearlshipping. Has Ash and Serena been on a Dominos pizza ad or some other promotional ad like Ash and Dawn? Thought processes are also different as people in Japan tend to connect seemingly dissimilar concepts and join them together. They pay more attention to the peripheral information and context rather than something at face value. That's why Pearlshipping is more of a contextual ship and Amour is very unlike it.
