(I kinda just rambled and ranted with this thread; so it's not well organized and just a collection of ideas I have right now)
A recent Japanese poll ranked Serena #18 as the best anime girl with short hair www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2015-10-25/new-japanese-poll-ranks-short-haired-anime-girls/.94519www.charapedia.jp/article/show/10035/10,000 did the poll - 60% were males and 68% were in their teens. The poll brings up a point in just how popular Serena is, even when compared to other anime. Most Serena fans ship and acknowledge SatoSere, so Amour is just as With such popularity, it can be very easy to feel that they will give Serena special favor to get Ash. Serena as a character gets hype and trends on Twitter every time one of her episodes comes out.
It's all about hype (and bandwagoning) these days - Serena/Amour's popularity was amplified because of this. Let's look at Eevee. People were saying "Eevee and Pikachu for the win!" But the unthinkable happened - Eevee and Bunnelby. You'd think that if there was no Amour bandwagoning, most people would stay loyal and not support/like it. But they aren't about that. Many Amourshippers welcomed the pairing. Even in Japan, some artists in Japan who'd normally draw Amour took the time to draw GeekChic! Now that amazed me! Plus other people liked the Eevee and Bunnelby together, so Amourshippers didn't mind following along. Serena is the exact same thing. You see, it's just about the here and now. Out with the old, and in with the new. The only way for Serena to not win is by losing popularity - Serena needs to be 'in' as long as possible. And Amour fans are pleading, pleading and hoping that Serena will travel with Ash to the next region. They want their beloved Serena to have the spotlight for as long as possible like Misty. They know that people will move on if Serena leaves - but that's just the way it is. Only time will tell what happens next.
One more thing. Even though her crush is her defining characteristic, it does not mean they've backed themselves into the point of having to canonize SatoSere. Just because Serena is "the best Pokegirl" does not mean they have to grant the wish of begging fans. And trust me, I've seen examples of fans begging. Plus, if Serena gets Ash it will be such a poor example for people on how to get places in life. This better not be a popularity contest.

I love it when people complain about realism in fictional works.(especially in Pokémon)

I love it when people complain about realism in fictional works.(especially in Pokémon) Well one of the things that people like about fictional works is when there are realistic aspects and realistic characters in it because it makes it more relatable to our own lives.

See, I don't hate serena because wof the anime. I hate serena because they keep shoving her down our throats like some new gatorade flavor or flaunting her around like some parade balloon. She's becoming progressively more and more obnoxious and it's piss ing me off. She's not even THAT great of a character. Sure she's appealing, cute, girly, anD has not a single unlikable quality (aside from being totally boring, inactive, and a Mary sue) she's just.... not interesting like may, dawn, or, hell, even iris! AT LEAST IRIS HAD BACKSTORY. Dawn and may actually DID stuff. It took serena like what 30 episodes to actually get her off her Butt and do something like catch a Pokémon or find a goal. She was a slow start. That isn't necessarily bad, but she hasn't progressed from there. Of course there was that scene with fenniken and the mud, where serena stepped out of her comfort zone to go and rescue it which was cute, but other than that, shes conjured this talent of being Kalos queen out of literally nothing and is advancing to complete her goal (tbh if she DOES become Kalos queen I'll be pissed for the sake of may and dawn). I want to like serena but I just can't. She hasn't done anything to make her character stand out and her ship is the only thing she has going for her. If they send her to a second region she's gonna end up like misty. She's not gonna amount to anything and just take up screen time. I'm sure they could figure out SOMETHING to do with her, but taking serena into Gen 7 is the WORST thing they could do. Serena isn't gonna be the trend of Gen 7. She was the trend of Gen 6 and should stay there with everyone else. Misty was different because no one else was introduced yet. They could have made her the permanent female character along side brock but they didn't. I'm pretty sure serena is the same thing. They're gonna drop her because she's just not gonna fit in. Especially if Clemont and Bonnie don't go to Gen 7.

I love it when people complain about realism in fictional works.(especially in Pokémon) Pokémon has advertised itself as a show with realism through life lessons ever since the Original Series. The Pokémon Parents Guide (lol I can't believe I'm using this source) says this: "Along the way, they learn about teamwork, compassion, friendship, and fair play" It's not like I'm "complaining" why Ash's face doesn't melt off when Charizard Flamethrowers him.

I think they just couldn't reverse what had happened in BW. People felt disappointed when Dawn came back for a cameo but they really wanted Dawn to come back for good. They should get the idea that Serena still isn't as popular as Dawn over in Japan. Amourshippers embody the worst of Advanceshippers and Pokeshippers. The only good thing was that they didn't make a movie like that Pokémon Ranger Manaphy movie for the Amourshippers and Serena fanatics to get off to. 10,000 fans mean little when most Serena fans are vocally batshit insane and have pretty much made Amour flatten all the non-Pearl ships. Amourshipping could have been great if they didn't shove it in our faces all the time. I wish I can say something else but you guys get the point.

Amourshipping could have been great if they didn't shove it in our faces all the time. I wish I can say something else but you guys get the point. I see what you mean. In almost EVERY episode since Serena was introduced to us, we have either seen her blush, stare are do some worthless crap to make us see she likes Ash. The worst part is the Wiki page (or Bulbapedia page), for similarities it legit says they both own a POKEDEX, i'll quote it for you guys. Similarities
Both have worn Ash's outfit.
They both wear hats and are based off of a playable character from the games: Red and Serena, respectively.
Both Serena's Fennekin and Ash's Froakie were originally Professor Sycamore's.
Both Pokémon have evolved under their ownership, Greninja and Braixen.
Both Ash and Serena have had only their mothers make an appearance in the anime: Delia and Grace, respectively.
Both own at least one Pokémon that wears sunglasses: Ash owns a Krookodile and a Squirtle, while Serena owns a Pancham.
Their first Fighting types were Primeape and Pancham respectively, both of which have coincidentally stolen Ash's hat.
They both own a Pokédex. They both know how to ride Rhyhorn, Skiddo, and Mamoswine.
Both have unknown fathers.
Now of course there are more but i'll just explain how Dawn and Ash have similarities like these. Oh wow look Serena wore his outfit, big deal in Amourland! For the hats one, so does Dawn in the DP games, and I don't have to explain with Ash. I can't say the same for the evolving part but didn't Piplup not evolve? (I'm still currently watching the DP anime ; ( ) Dawn's mom and Ash's mom had appeared in the anime and had actually spoken to each other on the screen thing. I'm pretty sure Dawn doesn't have a Pokémon that wears sunglasses but we get the point. The stealing hat part I really don't have to explain. Dawn has a pokedex as well, so we can really tell that you were thirsty for similarities there Wiki writer. Yeah uh DAWN HAS AN UNKNOWN FATHER AS WELL I would go on and on about how stupid the hints on the Wiki are but I wouldn't wanna bore you with Amourshipping crap.
