The ultimate takeaway from this is.... if they planned all of this since Gen 3, have they really planned to save Dawn (and Serena) for later in the series? The games, anime, TCG, the manga, everything would all merge in some form.
If so, what is the true purpose of the Sun/Moon series? Ash to abandon becoming Pokémon Master to go to school and graduate?
I can be wrong about this. But it feels too suspicious to be coincidental. There must be a reason why they intended for Dawn to be so important to Ash. I mean they could have had DP just be only about Ash but they also had to have Dawn as the co-star and the female Ash of the series. Serena was initially supposed to be the 'regional companion' but because of her past background and how she received a major redesign, she feels too different than being simply a 'regional companion', that she feels as though she were an anime original character. Instead Clemont and Bonnie are the regional companions. I honestly doubt they are retconning everything and end up replacing Dawn's and Serena's character niches. There won't be another Pokegirl who is another female Ash and has a second Pikachu aside from Dawn. There won't be another Pokegirl, a major protagonist female, with a backstory with Ash and also a canonized one-sided love for Ash aside from Serena. Why go through all this only to throw these characterizations away? It won't make sense.
At first the alternate realities were in the TCG, then they were in the ORAS games, then would the anime itself have an alternate reality this time?
This is just too much to digest. It's probable that we won't be seeing a new region for Gen 8. That it'll just be Sinnoh and Kanto-Johto.
Dawn and Serena are polar opposites and are foils of each other. So are both Amour and Pearl, so are both Candy Girl and High Touch. This all can't be coincedental. I've explained that their names were references to the Sun and the Moon, respectively. When you combine the symbols for the Sun and Moon, it would be the symbol for Platinum. Thus we have XY -> SM (as the Z) -> Sinnoh remakes (with the combined SM as Platinum and with Arceus being the A)
When considering the game protagonist-based Pokegirls, this wouldn't exactly happen in the case of Serena BUT....
May is from Hoenn but went to Johto, but we got HGSS in Sinnoh and May got a cameo in Sinnoh. Dawn is from Sinnoh but went to Hoenn, but after a generation skip in Gen 5, we eventually got ORAS in Kalos and we could get another Dawn cameo maybe not in Kalos but in Kanto after Ash returns from Kalos. Serena is from Kalos and is likely to go to Sinnoh (likely with Dawn if she returns for a bit), and we will eventually get a Sinnoh remake in the next gen or two.

satohikaI loved that video by Lockstin; I would be so hyped if they made a Pokémon Diamond and Pearl sequel featuring Arceus on the Nintendo NX. Currently we don't actually know how long Ash will be in Alola for. There's a chance it could be two years or shorter. So maybe Alola and it's "mediocrity" without Dawn/Serena isn't going to be that drawn out anyway. What I'm also thinking is that there could be a special episode for the Pokémon anime's 20th anniversary where everyone gathers together. For the 10th they brought back Misty, so they could do something similar and have Dawn and Serena finally meet each other.

What I'm also thinking is that there could be a special episode for the Pokémon anime's 20th anniversary where everyone gathers together. For the 10th they brought back Misty, so they could do something similar and have Dawn and Serena finally meet each other. This is the thing though. Dawn replaced Misty in a way because Dawn fulfills the tsundere character trope, she was given a Togekiss and of course her most iconic Pokémon is a water type. Serena replaced May because of her indecisiveness in terms of finding a goal, her budding romanticism towards Ash (Drew in the case of May, with all the blushes) and because she ended up getting an Eevee. So they could be doing a repeat of Misty meets May but instead they're doing it with Dawn and Serena. I mean that last episode of Dawn's BW cameo was a huge giveaway that they were going to pull another Misty-like cameo appearance in Pallet Town with Dawn. I think that's the real reason as to why the staff are hiding something from everyone because if they did reveal it, the news would be HUGE (Dawn getting ANOTHER cameo instead of Iris getting one) and XYZ would actually end on an extremely high note rather than something negative. There's also a reason why they are making people believe that Serena is actually leaving when they haven't shown her leaving. I mean, she still could leave in her episode, but who knows? Which is why "Even Serena sees Pearlshipping" is a very probable at the end of XYZ. And speaking of the 20th anniversary, it's the 10th anniversary of when they had introduced Dawn because of the start of Gen 4. When you look at its symbol, You would notice Piplup and Charmander on top of Pikachu. Charizard being Ash's most iconic Pokémon after Pikachu and how Dawn's Piplup is Pikachu's best friend. As for Sun/Moon, I can't imagine them doing character songs for Lana, Lillie and Mallow like they did for Dawn, Serena, May, Ash or Clemont. I mean they could, but they can't easily replace Ash, Dawn and Serena as the protagonists of the overall final culmination of the series.

I actually think they are not making remakes of Sinnoh but a sequel to DPPt. That's why they're gearing for it.
There's no sign of Drasna in the anime as of now. Which means that she is likely going to be in the Sinnoh sequels. That also means a greater chance of my theory becoming true where Ash revisits Sinnoh for the Battle Frontier. And you can't have Sinnoh without Dawn.
We sort of had Alola forms before like Shellos and Gastrodon, so we could see alternating Sinnoh forms of Gen 5-7/8 Pokémon.
Alola might be where Dawn and Serena are introduced to each other and start their 'rivalry'.
That way Dawn can return whenever regardless whether there are DP remakes or not. And when they are released, they can just alter Dawn's outfit. They must have mentioned Dawn's Piplup and showed clips of just Ash, Pikachu, Dawn and Piplup after credits in order to offer a hint. And Piplup is just a huge money maker over in Japan since it was more popular than Pikachu.
Last XYZ episode 47 had a Pokémon quizzes the options were Ash's Pikachu, Cosplay Pikachu Belle (blue Beauty) and Cosplay Pikachu Pop Star ( red Cuteness). The colors are suspicious because they happen to be related to Dawn and Serena respectively. They could have picked any Cosplay Pikachu but they chose those two.

The Japanese Pokémon channel has just uploaded a picture book focusing on the sinnoh starters. they also suspiciously feature a pachirisu and buneary There's also a Buizel there too. In the SM trailer, Samson Oak makes impressions of Eevee, Buizel and Xerneas. I think they would promote Sinnoh remakes with Dawn and Piplup in Alola. Then the next games are likely either to do with a sequel to Sinnoh remakes in Sinnoh for the next generation and finally a game based in Kanto and other regions. Even more interestingly, the Pokémon shown are: Piplup, Buizel, Buneary, Pachirisu and Aipom when concerning Dawn. Why Aipom and Buizel? Because both of them belonged to Ash and Dawn at some point. It's likely that they would reveal Sinnoh remakes soon and Dawn goes to Alola first after Ash. I think once Dawn is there and Serena isn't (for now), I think there would be mixed feelings at the time being. And this picture book was revealed almost two years ago, on Dec 17th 2014, so it isn't new. But why show it now? It seems they are gearing for Dawn's return to the series with Dawn to Alola, which is more likely to be sooner than Serena to Alola.
