So the thing is Alola isn’t canon. The team tweeted out that we shouldn’t think of it as a continuation of Ash’s story and that Sword and Shield will be the official continuation from Kalos. And Dawn’s voice actor, who has only ever voiced Dawn, has mentioned she will come back again with all the mentions to her in all the years since her departure. Not to mention the fact that the employees are not allowed to mention anything about Serena or Amourshipping because they could get fired. I have faith Dawn will be back soon, once they’ve both chased their dreams and lived. And notice that it was after Dawn left that Ash actually aged, matured and became a young man. Dawn will have done similarly so I’m excited

This was almost two years ago, but look at the positioning of Dawn, in the third promotional image, how she is placed right in the center (representing DP/Gen 4), just like Ash at the bottom. I know this is coincidental, but only Dawn seems to appear rather than being alongside Brock (but the same case is also made for May and Max for AG/Gen 3). Replace é with e, otherwise, you'd end up with 'dead links' www.Pokémon.co.jp/info/2017/10/171020_p02.htmlAlso new trainer merchandise is coming out soon, and Dawn just happens to be the first that appears. It goes on sale during August. Notice how they promote the DP depiction of Dawn. I know that this is likely a promotion for the upcoming mobile game Pokémon Masters, but I find that their inclusion of Dawn as merchandise seems to be different because there is almost no mention of Dawn in Pokémon Masters as far as I know. Piplup seems to be BarryâÃÂÃÂs signature Pokémon in Pokémon Masters rather than DawnâÃÂÃÂs. www.Pokémon.co.jp/info/2019/07/190719_p01.html?utm_source=TWITTER2&utm_medium=socialI think it's possible that Dawn can still appear in Alola within the same continuity. Especially when they tried to promote Piplup for Gen 7, with the movies and merchandise. ItâÃÂÃÂs a bit hard to explain, but I would like to think of the generation storylines of Pokémon series are sort of like alternate realities of each other, except the major events are still exactly the same as it was presented as. There is also a gap between the end of an old generation series and the beginning of a new generation series. There is also potential foreshadowing that Brock and Misty would later appear sometime when the series is about to end, and I think we would be in for a âÃÂÃÂsurpriseâÃÂÃÂ, most likely Dawn. So by comparison From DP to BW - league begins on July 1st, series ends September 9th, BW starts September 23rd From BW to XY - Decolora (using the league here would be a poor example) begins April 25th, series ends September 26th, XY begins October 17th From XY to SM - league begins June 30th, team flare arc begins August 25th, series ends October 27th, SM begins November 17th From SM to SS - league begins June 30th, next series likely begins the week when Sword and Shield are released, last week of November. So either there could be a delay of sorts or potential future arcs and lead-in episodes from SM to Sword/Shield.

I care nothing about peoples' opinions on canon. Heck, we're still following our boi for Sun and Moon, and I shall say that this series has been a blast to watch. I've yet to watch the Alola League parts from its starting point, which is the episode after <spoilers>Lillie used her Z-Move and Gladion found the Illusion Pokémon</spoilers>.
I love this Ash. Unlike BW, SM provided a good mix of his maturity and free-spirit. Him being a butt-monkey may be a tad overused, but what do you expect from children's anime these days? Comedy just enjoys overstaying its welcome.
