FieryFennekin yeah, inactivity leads to more inactivity and we need a spark of activity to generate activity (since activity leads to activity as well) and that answer just doesn't lie with me. The way to fix this problem is probably more fundamental and it probably needs a relaxation of the principles I ran this forum by. What people dislike most is that this forum is too serious and criticises Amourshipping, and I need someone "fun" and also someone WHO HAS TIME to balance out my inherently killjoy personality. One solution I see is to sacrifice the "pure pearlshipping" of this forum- thoughts...? knightofbalance *raises eyebrow" do you mean stand down as in the political sense like "Stand down you're a crappy president" or the other possible sense "stand down relax, we'll do it so you don't have to"...? I am not averse to the first option if that's how you see this forum moving forward.

Activity has hit its lowest as of now, and I feel bad for not getting a chance to put in more effort to come up with more ideas to boost activity. The issue is that we are often not able to get enough participation when a person advocates an idea, discussion or event. The efforts of the person to boost activity is not being rewarded if there are barely any members able to participate, but it's nobody's fault. I understand that people are busy. I'm busy myself, and I need to work on getting online more often than I do.However, we're all like a family right? If we all pitch in our own ideas and spare some time to participate in the discussions and events whenever we get the opportunity to, we can make the forum a lively site to visit once again. Maybe have a goal of at least posting once a day? Teamwork is the key to success!

Ooh, sounds exciting knightofbalance . I can't wait to see it. Thank you again, absolutely happy to see someone pitching in. You see IceArceus , that was the conclusion I was trying to reach. This forum is all about Pearlshipping and the forum basically became an place where Serena is bashed regularly. We kept keep going onto the same topic over and over again, which led to the inactivity. We need to balance this out here. You are not a killjoy, but we do need to tone down the criticism for Amour. We're all a Pokémon community in the end, regardless of ship. This is why the forum is so inactive nowadays. We killed the vibe. Heck, sometimes we're not even taken seriously because of our dislike for amour. We just gotta go and expand the forum. For me, yes, that is what I was going for. We don't have to let Pearlshipping go, but we need to expand and talk about other topics, not just Pearl. Most of the general discussion and majority of the boards are Pearlshipping. If my opinion counts, I'd like to say that we expand the forum more. That way others who've grown out of Pearlshipping can still participate in the other topics given. This was supposed to be an fun, welcoming place. SakuraBlossom I guess you understand that the root cause for the inactivity of the competitions hosted. Thank you for the input and still doing the competitions despite it's unpopularity. I understand, you're the one of the people who is actually busy. Maybe moving forward from this site. Who knows. Again, expansion guys. We gotta do other things that people enjoy and what would bring them in, even if they're not an pearl shipper. They'll notice the banner competitions and join for their favourite ship. Another good idea that can lead to activity and something as a whole we're all able to contribute to. Putting our ideas in. Yeah, the inactivity gets discouraging to the point of not coming on. No one is post because they have no where to post.

I know I haven't done all the things I've said I would, but I'd still want to help in any way I can.

Okay, I need to stop to replying to every post. xD
The fact alone that you want to help is astounding. However, there is various tactics we can do that'll get vault up and running.
First off, try making activity, let's try focusing on a different topic that's popular and a lot of people that are into nowadays. The few selected topics back in 2014 were known to be quite popular and attracted a lot of members. In fact, they help get a diverse bunch and for everyone to know each other and once someone finds another user interesting or topic interesting, they wouldn't want to leave. Do any of your interests , this is supposed to be fun and you'll get better results if you don't treat it as work. Let's do something that you're interested in and eventually members will follow.
Or try getting new members. You can check out fan fiction and a bunch of other websites like DA to promote the forum.
We need to work on the welcoming, most members don't receive a proper welcome. Everyone here should have the time to say hello. The more welcoming the atmosphere, the more would anyone want to stay rather than feeling neglected.
Patience. This forum has a lot of work to do and it's not gonna happen overnight. We have to wait patiently and set goals. Maybe like something Sakura suggested like a post or even that you'll bring one member in a week or an day. Most importantly, stop being serious. This forum was originally created for the purpose of having fun and now the atmosphere is tense because we got serious.
We need to attract members by getting them on, which is the hardest and first step. Then find something that they'll be interested in. Once they're hooked, you officially have a new member. This place has to have a little more sunshine, it has to be fun for this to work.
A lot of us have matured. We used to bash Serena endlessly. However, we've grown from it. We need to show them we're past that and we're an friendly community that accepts everyone regardless of shippings and so. We have to show them that we've matured. Thanks to me and others the forum was judged as an place just for bashing Serena and some members didn't do anything.
I write too much oh my blob sorry It probably didn't make any sense

I'd like to add my piece.
I discovered this place through Datacore so I believe updating that should be the 1st order of business. The analysis written there are good reading material and makes you want to browse around more. The promise of more episode analysis in particular is what I am referring to.
I visit this place everyday. I want to be active here.

Paolo1350 I actually agree. Most people who joined/ join now join because they appreciate the content on the youtube channel or on DataCore. Our in depth and serious attitude towards Pearlshipping is our novelty and gives us our unique charm. FieryFennekin I know you've been away for a while, but I would say this forum has already moved away from Serena bashing. Literally no one bashes Serena anymore. Amourshipping is still criticised, but that's because doing it anywhere else gets you killed (while criticising Pearlshipping doesn't) and frankly that's stupid. We can let go of pure Pearlshipping if enough people explicitly say they want to, but we don't need to let go of the basics entirely. I wouldn't say the atmosphere was TENSE, if I had to use a word. I would just say inactive because I honestly don't feel that it's tense. Back in another inactive period I told the staff to make a post a day and it did improve things, but that didn't last long because most of the staff were busy. If everyone who commented on this thread properly committed to three posts a day that would already make things a lot better. People aren't discouraged by the lack of other things on this forum (primarily), they're discouraged because no one's posting about it. You're still right about getting other topics though. We don't need to shift Pearlshipping out of our focus, we just need to shift other topics in. You'll see that often I post whatever comes into my head that I want to share with you guys (I did, anyway) and you can all do the same. Literally, there are random boards everywhere for that. It's just that no one posts on them. So while dipshittery (my part included) was responsible for inactivity for a brief period back in 2013/2014, I wouldn't say it was now, because while lots of old members shifted out, almost immediately new members came in, PlatinumSun was the first notable member after that, if you remember your batch (with ravencupid, epsilonai etc.). So I DON'T think any dipshittery is responsible for the inactivity now, on anyone's part. (And being two teenagers running the forum, dipshittery was inevitable- we somehow HAD to learn from error- but I would say my track record of online shenanigans has been looking clean for the past year.) One of the things that did boost activity was Pearlshippingfest. I would post the analysis graph here but I think its wiped off the log now. The activity that sustained afterwards was impressive. But what I agree with you most is on getting people hooked. Often that happens organically and it DID happen organically in 2013/2014. I mean it's possible to artificially THINK of one, but I can't, and either you guys do or we have to let that happen naturally. Going back to Paolo1350 EXACTLY. episode analysis. Loads of comments asking for the completion of that particular project. Which I don't have time to write at the moment. I always tell people they can write what they like for me to put on that site and I get offers to do so, but no one has actually followed through on that, because no one has time. SakuraBlossom that's an encouraging attitude to take. I agree. Teamwork IS success and I totally think we should do that a post a day thing. THREE posts a day is ideal. Literally anywhere, but preferably on boards other people haven't posted in on that day. Seeing loads of posts "10 minutes ago" or " 5 minutes ago" or "2 hours ago" on every single board is encouraging for anyone who comes on this forum.

Perhaps we can start a thread to brainstorm possible activities or discussion topics to attract new members and rise activity? For example, Vault's 2 year anniversary is approaching us at the end of the month. We could plan an event somewhat similar to Pearlshippingfest.

I am not averse to the first option if that's how you see this forum moving forward. I mean that you need to relax and let your motivation come to you. The reason why it takes me so long to write (besides the fact that I'm a slow typer) is that I write only when I am in the mood. Granted, I can force the mood occasionally but then I worry about my product dropping in quality.
Stand down so the rest of us can help.
